2008 500 sportsman, blown oil line return
Ok guys, here I go again. Changed the oil in the 2008 sportsman 500 HO last Sunday, I drained the crankcase and cleaned the brass filter on the lower oil line from the oil tank. As the polaris instructions tell me I prime the oil pump for 15 seconds on initial startup after the change.
I could not tell if the pump was actually primed so I turned the motor off, re-clamped the oil line and was going to try to prime again but when I started the motor up, you guessed it the pressure blows a hole instantly on the upper line below the vise grip pliers.
I stopped at the dealer to try and buy another line because I believe this is somewhat a special line with a blow off vent for priming reasons. The parts guy can't find it on his shelf and gives me a 3/8 fuel line. I was not impressed with counter guy to ask for a whole lot of advice. That is why I am asking you guys for advice on this situation
My questions are, is this line going to be ok? Do I need to prime the system again.
I do not believe that I need to because when I removed the line the oil did not drain from the pump.

on mine there is a slit in it for venting, when i change the oil i clamped it closer to the tank before this vent.
after 15 seconds i shut mine off and when i unclamp the vent line i listen for a sucking sound indicating that it is primed.
I am sure that blueline15 will chime soon.

Update on the blown oil line,
The oil line that blew a hole in it under pressure when I clamped onto it with vise grips, was not the upper line on the tank, but it is the line on the top 1/3 of the tank.
It was'nt until today that I saw there was a upper line on the very top of the tank. (this line is not very easy to see, let alone find the pressure relief slit)
I replaced the blown line with a regular 3/8" fuel line that was given to me from the dealer.
Here are my questions again, Since I replaced that line, do I need to still prime the oil pump?
The replaced line, is that going to be OK or do I need to buy the Polaris line? The difference that I see is the PSI rating on the Polaris line is 50 psi, the other line is a standard fuel line I am not sure what the psi is.
