re installing fuel tank in '99 sportsman 500

Im trying to get the fuel tank back in the frame and it won't go
I dont even want to say how long I've tried to get it back in, I can get the lf tab seated but not the right front
anybody else ever have difficulty?

Good Evening my friend,
Make sure you are not installing the tank backwards. I know it sounds dumb but know someone who was trying to do just that. The large part of the tank goes in first. The tabs with holes in them should be near the center of the ATV while the tabs without holes will go to the front. I took the gas cap off & it slid in. On my first attempt I had the fuel lines routed over the frame & had to disconnect & reroute the two lines under the top of the frame.

What is it getting hung up on ???????

thanks for responding, turns out I had it apart for too long, 6 weeks and just completely forgot how it went together, so last night I finally figured out that the front tabs go UNDER the steering post bracket, not IN the bracket, and it popped right in. I was beginning to think the frame was really bent.
