magnum 2x4 rebuild ??HELP??
First of all hello everybody. I'm new to polaris i just got a late 90's magnum 425 and it seems to have two problems that are keeping me from enjoying this atv. First i cant get the quad into high or reverse, i suspect that it is the pin that is sheared off that is on the selector inside the transmission. Second it has a very high idle, almost full throttle. I have turned the idle screw and it doesn't do anything and when the bike isn't running i can hear the slide working properly so i think it has something to do with the electronics that are in the throttle. At this point i have the transmission almost off i just need to get the primary clutch, engine, off. I just want to ride this quad, If any one has any help that they can lend me it will be greatly appreciated.

To get the primary clutch off you will need a puller or a 3/4" fine thread bolt 10" long with threads within 4" of head of bolt.

Welcome to the board!
First off, this high idle is a carb issue not electrionic. You may want to pull the diaphram off the carb and check it out and, also, your needle valve and seat as well.
I don't know what to tell you about the shifter but good luck!
The Magnums are a fine quad, you'll have lots of fun with it.
