reverse override

My atv is a 1998 500 sportsman.

mine was the reverse override. Not the switch and not the

LIMITER,RPM,LR-83,HUB GROUND
4060205

It was in the sensor (SWITCH 3233371) in the gear selector.

Trouble shooting. I called a friend. he told me to push the reverse override button. It worked reved up just fine.

I had parted out a 1997 Sportsman 500 so I had all the parts to swap.

I ohmed out the switch from the '97 just to see how it worked. took apart mine and ohmed it out it worked fine. the switch is a normally open so you can actually disconnect I think it was the purple wire from the switch on that board in front and that fixed the problem but you have full throttle in reverse at all times.

I had another RPM limiter installed that and still did the same thing.

Installed the other gear selector and it worked great.

Ronnie's Mail Order for atv parts, atv tires, snowmobile, watercraft and motorcycle featuring an OEM microfiche parts finder.

The other non related things I fixed new. top end 10 over piston. decked the top of the cylinder. Valves ground, decked the head. new top end gasket set. all new rear U joints. voltage regulator. New tie rod end kits. New speedo cable and the little drive link. spark plug, all new fluids. checked all wheel bearing. I am about to bleed down the brakes the left side caliper isn't working as good as the right one. Might have to swap that one. Cleaned my secondary. got a good used primary from a friend. mine the moveable shiv is cracked.

the ATV worked great. 4X4 works great. clutch engagement is really nice. goes about 50. Just got the speedo stuff last night so haven't even rode it with a speedometer yet.

hope this helps.
thanks fngboy

Also check that your drive belt isn't slipping.
