08 500HO turn key and nothing?? no power

Its carb model, At first the instrument cluster would come on but it did nothing and I could pull pull start it but the handle bar headlight did not work, After some load testing of battery etc.. nothing comes on Battery tested out fine on my test and at the dealer. Turn the key and I've got nothing. I've checked for broken wires, loose wires etc, what else can I check for??

Have you checked the main fuses(20A)?

This may sound stupid but I cant find a fuse anywhere, fuse box fuse panel.. nothing. Ive read on here that people have changed that, but for the life of me I cant find it, I have this thing completely tore apart. So I guess my question is where is this mysterious 20A fuse??

Open your front storage box and look between the strut mount bolts. There will be a rubber cover that you can pull off, the fuses should be under this cover. The cover itself holds the spare fuses, 2-20A ,1-15A, 1-5or6A. Good luck

Nope, no fuse box there. There is nothing mounted on the crossarm between the mounting bolts. Like I said I have this thing stripped of all plastic and I cant find anything that seems to be a fuse. The starter relay showed positive ohms that its good. So i'd hate to start throwing parts at it and get no where. Any suggestions

Go to Partshark.com. Look at their partsfiche in order to see where the fuses are. Also, they have downloadable pdf manuals.

Well I tried the starter solenoid trick of putting a screw driver between the 2 terminals and the quad cranks over, which should mean the solinoid is bad. Just got back from the dealer with a new 50$ solinoid and does not change a damn thing, still no power anywhere, and yes the battery is fine. Any ideas?

Have you looked to see if you have power to the switch? Trace the wiring from the battery to the switch, then if that is ok, go from there to the starter relay on the control side and elsewhere.

2008 500HO Turn on key-no power 8/2010

Found this old thread but can't seem to find how this problem was solved. If I disconnect the positve cable off the battery then reconnect it (with the key in the on position) my gauge cluster displays and the machine can be started. Too wierd. Was it the case of a bad ECM? Are they a recall item?
