1986 polaris trail boss 250 specs

hi everybody new to this. i just got an 86 trail boss 250 2wheel drive and when i look for parts it always shows 2 model #s how do i know which is mine? tks

I own the same quad. The differences among model numbers is attributable to if the quad is a late 1985 that was released in 1986 (i.e., a 1985.5) or if the quad was built and released in 1986. Most of the parts are interchangable among model numbers and years (1985 and 1986). Only differences I've found have been in the carb, but there might be others. What I did was just check to see if the parts I needed varied among the years and model numbers. You can also cross reference part numbers to the parts diagram to determine model number. I did this using my carb jetting, since mine was still stock. You may need to have someone to cross-reference your VIN with records from Polaris.

if you have your VIN# i can magically turn that into a model #, that should help with the parts diagrams...just let me know
