Angry 95 xplorer

hi every1 im new to the forum and to fix my own quad ok so here is what happened the other day while riding thru puddles and stuff just my typical day riding well went thru the first few miles fine going thru the puddles no prob.... then all of a sudden i lost throttle i mean i had none the quad did not stall just no throttle so i take the seat off and started to unscrew the cap on the carb that the cable goes into and bam throttle again so i start again in with in a few mins.. now my throttle stuck wide open so i shut it off and do the same thing and the throttle works again so i bring home and yesterday i started messing around with the carb i know i know never should have done it cuz i have no clue what i was doing but after fiddling around with for a lil while and few adjustments seems to be running good and idling even better so i decide lets go for a ride well about 2 miles in and i hit the gas hard and it started bogging and bout to stall i let off the gas and its back to normal it kepping doing it only when at full throttle so i come home get right on the computer and start looking around ppl were saying it either running to rich or to lean since i have no clue i sarted adjusting the cable going into the cap on the carb that holds a sleeve and needle and the idle screw which i just found out that is what it is and a guy tolod me i was and idiot i shouldnt have touch that cable and told me to play with that the idle screw and the pilot air jet so i did and nothing so i got step by step instructions to clean the carb cuz it could have gotten dirty from riding plus im sure its been along time since it was cleaned neways so i do it and i saw on the net that the air pilot jet needs to be 1 1/4 tunred so i do that try playing with the idle screw and now its worse at first it was doing the same thing full throttle bog out and stall so i fiddled around some more with and and now i cant put it n gearit like the throttle is stuck so can some please help me

If the throtle is sticking then you likely have a cable thats breaking apart and hanging up, or the slide or needle have burrs or dirt in there. I'm not sure about 2 strokes but on a 4 stroke the plug will tell you if your lean or rich on the main jet. White or gray is lean while dark brown to black is rich. Card board color is sweet. You use the a/f screw to fine tune the correct jet not to make up for the wrong one. If this just started to happen even though it's run fine for a while before, then it's likely a clogged filter or intake leak. Clogged filter means less air so your rich while a intake leak means more air so your lean. Or you have an obstruction in the lines, filter, or petcock. So it slows the fuel flow. At wot your out running the fuel. Or possibly the floats gotten knocked out of spec.

how and where could the intake leak be from the air filter box where it connects to the carb if the boot is ripped can this be a cause for this to happen

Check where the carb mounts to the engine for leaks if that rubber cracks it will leak. Also check the 4 bolts that hold the rubber to the engine.
