after a quick search i cannot find a carb kit in any of the sites i frequent for the 96 xpress 400L. Found some for the 300 but i seriously doubt they use the same carb. can you find a model # on the carb anywhere?

Sounds like you need new needle valve in carb. Had same problem with my 1998 500.

That is what I told you about. You need to replace:item#5 part#3130462, #6 part#3130355,#8 part# 3130429 and item #12 3131385. Once you do that I think your fuel flooding problem will be cured. Thanks

Smile

I believe he ment to say FLOAT needle. It's attached to the float in the bowl at the bottom on the carb. It controls flow I to the carb.

It could also be a stuck float or a pours float. In any event I agree check here first.

The needle valve is a different part and serves a different purpose.
