xplorer 400 4x4 help

ok bike runnin great now 4x4 works forward but not in reverse what is the cause of this? it has the override button do i need to hold it while in reverse i thought it was so you dont go to fast backwards

The ignition timing retards when backing up allowing you not to go fast unless you hold the overide button in, this also ativates the four wheel drive. So if you need to use four wheel drive in reverse hold the little yellow button.
