wolf-pen gap

I've never been "trail-riding" before. Waiting for my 2011 X2 to come in (1st 4-wheeler in 10-ish years). Been watching a bunch of youtube videos and trail-riding looks awesome.
Has anyone ever ridden Wolf-pen Gap (Mena, Arkansas- Ouachita National Forest). Its only about 45 minutes from my cabin and the videos I've seen make it look fun.
Would just like the opinion of someone who's been there.
Plus anything experienced trail-riders feel they need to tell newbies about to enter the game- feel free to tell.
Also, just joined this forum last week and already it's been very informative and entertaining; thanks to all who make it so.

Although I've never been there personally, several people in my local ATV trail riding club have. If you already have a Yahoo e-mail account, feel free to check it out. I know one of our members has posted tons of pictures of their trips to Wolf Pen Gap.

Wolf Pen Gap is on our list of group ride destinations...possible for 2011. It's just far enough away that it would require a minimum of a weekend commitment in order for the riding to be worth the trek. Hope to see you on the Yahoo group soon.

I just approved your membership request to the Ozarks ATV Trail Riders group. Glad to have a fellow X2 owner in the group. Is yours a 550 or 850?

I love it. I can't imagine not having one. It's so versatile. Are you planning to do a lot of 2-up trail riding?

between the 2 kids and my wife, I'll probably have someone with me most of my trail riding time.
Is yours an 06?! Saw the pics on the yahoo group, looks really sharp for an '06.

Yep. Mine is a 2006. I put the Crusher rims and radial tires on it in 2007. How old are your kids? My boy is 12, and we used the 2-up seating of the X2 a lot when he was younger. I had the X2 and a 2006 Sawtooth (200cc and 2WD) that my son rode. My wife and I could ride the X2 with our son following behind us. If he got tired, my wife could switch with him and she would ride the Sawtooth for a while while my son rode as a passenger with me. Now that he's getting a little older, I've sold the Sawtooth and bought a 2010 550 XP as our second machine. My next trade up will probably be to an 850 X2, but that may be a while ($$$).

i have been to wolf pen gap and it was very fun we went in the summer and it was a hot son of a buck but still fun. there are several different trail choices for different rider levels and we rode there for 4 days and put 400plus miles on and i dont think we rode on the same trail twice witch was awesome but the map they gave us was a little lacking Lol it made it fun. the rocks are very sharp 2 people in my group with stock tires cut the sidewalls out and finding tires down there was a little work so keep that in mind...other wise good place to ride and have fun.
