Where to spend my 1 wk vacation this summer on my XP?
Hello everyone!
This up coming summer I am trying to plan on going on an ATV trip. I Live in WI and have road pretty much all of the WI trails and don't get me wrong... there are a ton of them and they are great... but I am getting a little bored of them.. I also road quite a few of the trails in MN...
I can only get 1 week off to go some place that will be amazing riding. So far I have it narrowed down to West Virgina, Colorado, Tennesse, Utah...
I want to experience new trails that are unlike anything I road before and have a variety of terrain and fairly technical/difficult. I don't want to drive for 4 days and only ride old rail roads and roads...
What are your suggestions for a trail system that is huge and will be well worth the gas money to drive there. Any other place I am not thinking of that would be amazing not too far from WI??
THANKS and i can't wait to take this trip... i am going to put so many miles on my XP... i just can't stay off it! haha

Ride in Tennessee
If you come down to TN check out Coal Creek/ Windrock, Brimstone and Royal Blue. They've all got trails from beginner to extreme. All the trails at Coal Creek and Brimstone are clearly marked with trail numbers and difficulty level. Royal Blue is managed by TWRA and the trails are marked but I havent found a great map there. All three have camping sites. Coal Creek and Royal have cabins for rent. not sure about Brimstone though. Where ever you go Have a great time and keep the shiny side up!

I participated in the opening ride of the Hatfield McCoy Trail system and will never forget the experience. It offers plenty of great scenery, challenging trails, and the local businesses welcome the ATV crowd. I can remember riding a trail along a ridge and looking down at the tops of the trees no more than 25' away. I have many other great memories, too many to share here. Someday I'm going back! There is no way you will get bored as there are various difficulty levels. Pick the trails that suit your skill level. I've never ridden out west so I can't give you a comparison. Have a great vacation.

I would go to Utah Bryce canyon area, it is a great place to ride, and plenty of riding to keep you going for a week.

Not trying to make you choose WV, but with the H-M Trails right outside my back door, all I can say is their fantastic!!! We also have loads of outlaw trails here. So if you decide to come to WV, let me know and maybe we can do some riding.

Thanks for everyone's responses. I plan on going with my family and my little brother is 13 and drives a polaris scrambler 500. I read somewhere for the WV hatfield mccoy trails require some fee and only allow you to ride ATVs with the manufactures suggest requirement (over 16) so that would not let my little brother able to drive there. WV was at the top of my list, but once i read that it kinda put it lower. Otherwise I would love to go there and it would be awesome to meet up with you and have someone that knows the area!
Also are the trails there big systems of trails, or is it more like smaller systems/parks that loop around and you have to trailer to each system?
its a hard decision on where to go.. i just want it to be a ride of my lifetime and worth ever penny for the trip. WI has some good trails, but i want something different and new...

indian ridge and pinnacle creek
if you stay at either indian ridge or pinnacle creek there is a 12 mile connector between the two parks that you can your atv from one to the other.went to indian ridge last october right after the connector was opened.spent 3 days there and put over 150 on quads.we stayed at ashland resort campground which is connected to trails.each system has something different to offer i.e. indian ridge has more mud and pinnacle creek has more dry creek bed and other more rocky terrain.we are planning a trip to rock house trail system which is a little farther north the end of april.hope this helps.also these trail arent in as densly populated areas as the others so we didnt see any park rangers .if you act like you have sense when you ride i dont think you will have trouble with the younger ones riding.there is a one time fee of $50 for trail permit but it is good for all trails (6 in total)and lasts from the time you buy it until dec.31st.
