No official open/close dates in Maine but it is locally dependent on conditions. Seeming that we're in mud season there may be some partial/full closures of trails.

Im PRESIDENT of a western MAINE club. You arent gonna find any yet.We still have snow, and if not MUD.Trails are closed and dont get caught on them.[stiff fines and dbl the payout to landowners for damage]We keep them closed til it drys up to protect our landowners interest, without them we have no places to ride.Contact us the end of MAY and ill hook you up with some nice riding.I understand the need to ride ,i itch too,but we have to all be patient

I too live in Maine, in the Presque Isle are in Aroostook county and can't wait for the trails to open. As far as my online research has gone, I do not see any ATV trails or parks in the whole state open right now. Another month or so, they should all be open depending on how much spring rain we get. Where in Maine do you live Mudman420?

Hey guys,
I have been calling around and here is what I got so far...

Down East Sunrise has a rough date of May 15th
Houlton to Presque Isle is set for May 9th
Newport to Dover June 1

Jackman trails I haven't had a chance to call on yet...

All dates are just rough dates and aren't set in stone they could open sooner or later all depends on the mud...

Ridge Rider...I'm not familiar with the trails in Western Maine...how are the trails out that way? Are they rail beds or tighter trails? What towns do they run between? How many miles of trails are out there? I have riden Houlton, Newport and Jackman...looking forward to trying Downeast Sunrise this spring....wouldn't mind checking out Western Maine too!

TRAILS vary from logging roads to old rail beds ,lots are very steep and mountainous
MY club [narrow gauge riders]connects STRONG, TEMPLE ,COOS CANYON,PHILLIPS AVON,MADRID .RANGELY.Stratton -EUSTIS is beyond and im told will connect to JACKMAN soon
7 OF us atv clubs have formed a new MOOSE LOOP TRAIL SYSTEM which will also include clubs in CARRABASETT,KINGFIELD ,AND SALEM,as well as most ive listed. It took the club PRESIDENT IN RANGELY 8 hours to do the loop on his rhino, going all out and not stopping.Im not sure but i think it was like 130 miles or something. Most of the trails we travelalot of you probably have snowmobiled on in the winter.

That sounds good...Where are some good drop off points? I'm in Belfast...so what would be a good drop off point on the eastern most points of the trail system?

WOW, That's GREAT NEWS!!!

We have a couple trips to Jackman this year. There is plenty of trails available there, having it connect to another system is great news!!!

We have not joined a club there. Is there one in the area supporting the Jackman trails you would recommend?
