It depends on where you go, as far as the laws go. St. Joe State Park is a decent place to ride, you just need a flag and a helmet. It's in Park Hills, probably right at an hour from STL. Other than than, you can ride in some of the National Forest areas, like Sutton's Bluff, Palmers, ect, but the laws vary. In alot of cases you will need a permit from either the US Forest service or a county ATV permit where you will be riding. I know Sutton's Bluff (Centerville, MO) you have to get a permit from a gas station in town to ride there. Good place to go though as well.
