Riding Moab
Every year, twice a year we plan an ATV/UTV riding trip. This year we have decided to ride Moab Utah. We are looking for a place to stay where we can park and ride. It must be able to accomodate an 18 wheeler, as this is how we haul them. We would like to stay in a cabin or something so we don't have to load and unload the units from the 18 wheeler to ride. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

I just got a back a month ago from a week in Moab. First of all you cannot ride your ATV in Moab. If you stay at Archview Campground (I think they have cabins) you can ride a few trails from there, but not many. We stayed at the Moab Valley Inn, very nice for the price. We had to trailer every day and make a loop where we ended back at the trailhead where our trucks were. One day we parked at Poison Spider TH and rode Poison Spider and Golden Spike. Turned out that Golden Spike is a Jeep trail with a rating of 7 out of 9 on the jeep scale. It took us all day in 100F weather. We roped, winched, cussed, etc and we were not going to reverse it and go back to the TH so we decided to take some trails to Archview where we paid a lady $20 to take the drivers back to the TH to get the trucks.

Archview Campground has several cabins, but the place will fill up fast in the spring. Call early to make reservations. There are actually a lot of trails you can access right from camp.
Seven Mile Rim, Metal Masher, Gold Bar Rim, Golden Spike, Poison Spider Mesa, Gemini Bridges, Bull Canyon just to name a few. You could probably ride 3-5 days right from camp. I would highly recommend the Moab Jeep Trails book by Charles Wells. I would get the jeep trail book, not the atv trail book. Depending on your skill level, I would plan on loading up for a trip to ride Fins n Things and Hells Revenge. Not trails for beginners or timid riders. Steep climbs and descents, but some of the best slick rock riding anywhere!
Here is a link to my pictures from my trip in May.

My little group rode Moab trails two years ago. Can't wait to get back; maybe this spring. Of course I want to go back to American Fork canyon too, since I'm in Utah anyhow.
