They had a sign that read, "Helmets required for anyone under 18".
And we were able to ride beside the lake- all the way around until we came to the fence- it's still pretty low.
It was a fun day. My boy took the worst of it: turned the wheeler on its side, hit a tree, got stuck and got bucked off once. He didn't get hurt so I guess it was a good "learning" day for him.
My dad tried to kill himself chasing an armadillo, on his wheeler, through the brush. The brush was hiding a tree. Since he wasn't hurt, I almost fell off my wheeler laughing.
Thanks for all the info guys- it was a great day. Wheelers + Family= Fun

Amcoy,

How does this Lake Murray compare to Mena? I have extensively ridden at Mena.

Does anybody have an good couple of links that will get me started?

Best places to rent cabins?

Also, will they let 2 adults ride double on a sportsman 500 (that 'is not designed' to carry 2 people) ? I have a rear seat on mine, but it is not a touring or x2...

Highlifter HD Springs all around, Moose pregressors on front (not activated). EPI 'patv1' primary clutch spring, UNI air filter w/ PJ-1 oil. K&N Model KN-303 oil filters. Bikemaster foam grips.

My ATV-GURU bumpers ARE FOR SALE, front and rear, BRAND NEW. Me a reasonable offer and they are YOURS.

(As you probably already know, they are currently unavailable from TheAtvSuperstore.com /ATV-Guru for an undisclosed amount of time).

Lake Murray compared to WPG in Mena:
WPG is 3x as large. For the most part, the trails are wider at WPG. WPG is rockier. IMO, the scenery is better at WPG.
Although small compared to WPG, Lake Murray (LM) has a taste of just about every type of riding. Tight wooded trails, mud (some mud holes-too deep for me), sand and some rocky parts. Since the drought this past summer you can ride the sand almost around the entire lake.
I like WPG better than LM. But don't let that bother you if you're heading to LM because I thought LM was a lot of fun. In fact, I have a couple of friends who prefer LM to WPG. Another thing, WPG is free whereas LM is $10 per head.

As far as cabins, I've never checked because LM is only an hour from my house.

Riding 2-up? I did see them make a couple stop riding double on a single-person machine. You might be able to trick 'em though with that rear seat

Understand that this info is coming from someone who has only ridden WPG once and LM twice so take it for what it's worth... But I'd bet you'll have fun at LM.

Great thread, My friend's folks have a houseboat on lake murry, and hopefully we will be riding and staying on the lake soon. So if you are over 18 helmets are not required?
