ATV Riding in Tennessee

We went riding just after Christmas to a great ATV off road park just outside Knoxville. This place has over 350 miles of trails from the beginner gravel roads to the most extreme requiring modified ATV's or rock crawlers. Terrain has everything from mud to rocks, creek crossings, extreme angle climbing and spectacular views. We started at about 1000 feet elevation and 50 degrees and wound up at the top at over 400 feet and 30 degrees with snow. There is also a wind farm generator located on top of the mountain. Everyone riding had alot of respect for the environment as well as each other. I would strongly recommend this place for a great adventure. It is located in Oliver Springs Tennessee at Windrock Mountain. Entry fee is $17.00 for all day riding including after dark. The offer discounts for multiple days or a yearly permit. They also have a campground and cabins that you can ride directly to the trail systems with your ATV's and off road vehicles. The phone number is (865)435-1251.

Sounds nice. My family was riding at Brimstone in Huntsville, Tennessee(Home « Brimstone Recreation) at the same time you were at Windrock and our experience was so good that we're already planning a return trip. Only managed to upload a couple of photos thus far . It ws the only day it rained while we were there and we had a blast. Stayed in one of the cabins too. Super nice and very reasonably priced.

I have been to both Brimstone and Coal Creek and highly recommend both. The people are nice and campground service is good, but Coal Creek does have better campgrounds because of more space.

Agree... both are fun. Brimstone is more to my liking but then again I like Hatfield and McCoy better than any... LOL

Sounds a lot like Brimstone

I took my son to Brimstone Recreation in Huntsville, TN last August. We stayed a week and had a blast. Didn't have a 4WD then so some of the trails were too rough for us but we busted a lot of mud holes anyway. Would love to go back with my 700 Sportsman. Think I'll look up that place and give it a try too.

What dates are you guys (jac & tbarr) heading to RRB? I was debating a trip down there myself along with my son. Have never been there though. Do they have a CC limit on youth atv's in Tennesseee?

Riding Places

A group of us are heading to Brimstone to Ride 4-26 thru 4-28. Haven't been there since 2008... anyone gonna be there?

Usually ride Coal Creek (Windrock) a few times a year. I love riding, when i get the chance. Everywhere I get to ride has it's good & Bad points.

- Harlan Ky is awesome, but wouldn't be my pick for beginners.
- Hatfield McCoy areas get steeper the further south you go. They do have a lot of rules and people to enforce them, but trails are well maintained.
- Brimstone was more dirt & Mud than rock and a great ride.
- Coal Creek is BIG. Lots of trails for all day riding ... pack A lunch, extra Gas and head North of 116 for the best riding.
- Never ridden Royal Blue.
- The BadLands in Attica Indiana is an Atv park with lots of variety, Dunes, Hills, Trails, Swamp, tracks, you name it.
- Wayne National Forest in Ohio has a couple nice areas.
