Uwharrie National Forest, NC
Has anyone ridden here? I was planning to go this weekend and was curious what it's like to ride an ATV there. I've driven an FJ Cruiser here, so I know it's pretty rocky in some areas, but I've been told it's pretty rough on an ATV. I was just curious if anyone had any personal experience there.

I have ridden there a few times. ATV's go every where the jeeps do. Kodak rock has an ATV bypass. Daniel is doable on an ATV if you are experienced. Parts of it are very rocky as you know. It is AKA Rockwharrie. It will be extremely hot and dusty this weekend.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah this weekend will suck weather-wise. I knew the ATVs could go everywhere the vehicles could, was more concerned with how possible it was. I don't want to destroy mine on a rock. I would be pretty skeptical of my ability on Daniel on an ATV, especially considering I haven't ridden much and this is the first one I've owned.

My son, brother, two nieces and I ride there often because it is close. When it is muddy is even more fun. Yes it is rocky but we enjoy it again because it is close. It is best to go as early as possible. By mid afternoon it can get pretty congested as the trails are all only single width and when a bunch of jeeps/trucks meet head-on it can get backed up. Who backs up? Fortunately most of the time we can turn around, but the bigger vehicles don't have that luxury.

Thanks for the info. That's pretty much what I suspected. I usually go on Sundays with the FJ, not many people there those days, but I figured Saturday was a completely different beast.

So went and rode here today. Wasn't too crowded being a Friday (we're working 4 10's during summer, so I'm fortunate for that). It was hot as hell though, but a lot of fun. Nowhere near as much dust as CAW and still had some standing water despite it being a week or so since it rained.
Trails were fun, wider than CAW, but they had some pretty difficult ones. They weren't really rutted out like CAW either, adequately marked. Ran into some areas nobody has been since the storm last weekend as there was a tree down, but fortunately the atv is nimble enough to get around.
Thanks for the tips about Uwharrie.
