Big Horn Mountains

I just came back last month from a Antelope Hunt down around Kaycee, WY. and could not have had a better time riding and hunting. Yes I got my Antelope. My friend lives in Sheridan and just outside of the city limits they had special parking areas to unload your ATV's. We went back in about thirty miles one way and I had the best time ever on a quad. We came across old pioneer cabins did several small river and creek crossings and saw lots of Deer, Elk and Moose. Best part it was never crowded. We did this during the week but only came across 5 other riders. Did a little fishing back in some of the lakes which is what we had for lunch. Another day we left out of Sheridan and went up to Burgess Junction in the Big Horns and there are trails up there you could spend all year trying to explore. There are three small lodges up there that you can stay at and they also serve hot meals. If you have watched on TV Fishers ATV world, Brian Fisher has said WY. Big Horns are the best place to ride. You will not be disapointed. However your getting close to snow following now and that might keep you out of some areas. We are hopeing to move there at the end of the year. Out of state off road tag is $15.00 for the year.

Big Horns Were Awesome!!!!

Hi, I recently bought a 09 XP 850 and am new to the site. I went out to the Big Horns back in Sept muley hunting. We stayed at the Tie Flume campground in the mountains. After I got my muley I took out my buddies Kodiak on the trails nearby. Even though I was wishing I had one of my atvs, I had a blast. The trails wandered up nice hills, and had awesome scenery. It was rocky in sections, rutty in others, big roots, uphills, downhills, deep mogul like areas down in some of the woods. They were the best trails I've been on. I would love to go out there for a week just to ride the trails. I would've loved to have the XP!!!!!

Hi new to this forum and saw your post. Am thinking about a trip there for next summer. Any idea how many miles of trials there are and was looking at the area around elkview lodge to stay. We usually go for a week or so.

Hi,stayed there for six nights last August, their website has printable maps that say over six hundred miles of trails and we put 430 miles in six days. The trails are very good, for all types of riding. With the maps and a gps we had no problems, three of the days we rode right out of the resort with out trailering. Paulmn.

Headed there this weekend with my wife for a nice trip. I've been there once before and can't wait to spend some quality time.
