Lets see your Custom and Aftermarket Shifters
I am interested to see what you guys are doing for custom shifters. I know rubberdown makes one. and I think I seen someone here with a draft tap for a shifter. Lets see what you got, and tell us what you did to make it work.

A draft tap? Like a pipe tap?
I can make just about anything. It's a side benefit of being the machining industry. :-)

I'm interested in a "T" type or like an upside down "L" handle with the
bottom part facing out wards.
For some reason I think just laying your hand on top would make it
easier shifting.

Yes exactly. Thoughts of a Hurst T handle shifter.
I don't think a true T handle would work as the shifting rod is so close
to the side panel though. This was a thought back in the summer as
times it takes a little more effort to shift the gears........but this could be
something I may have to address.

Just got mine done today. Drilled the hole out to 1/2" then wollered it so it would slip over the "humps" on the shifter rod. Matches my color too. Its just pushed on as far as I could get it to go, really sturdy, but might drill and tap a hole on the backside and run a small bolt in just for peace of mind. Actually is kinda more ergonomic LOL being I don't have to bend down as far and with the extra leverage I don't have to push as hard on it to engage. Heres pics
