Trunk/Storage box

How do I remove the front storage box lid? It is a 2010 500 Sportsman. I have the Polaris front brush guard/bumper, do I have to remove that? I can't see any pin heads if they are slip in or bolts in the hinge covers. Thanks.

Do you just want to remove the lid, are the whole box ? I removed the whole box to install my ATV Guru brush guard .

You have four (each side) torx screws each side that tie it to the fenders. Two on top recessed by the latches and two under the fenders. Then there are two (I think) or maybe four 1/2" bolts inside the bottom of the box holding it to the frame. The whole box then comes out. The lid just has pins that slide into the box hinge. You don't have to take the bumper or brush guard loose.

The lid

Just removing the lid for replacement. I rolled it and broke the back left corner. I can not see where the pins slide through the hindges. Do I have to pry back the hindge covers, there is nothing on the inside of the box that I can see. When the garage warms up I'll be working on it, maybe later today. Thanks Polman
Thanks Bruce, I've been looking for a good forum site. Not bashing them but Polarisriders.com has a lot to be desired.

The pins are held captive by the front bumper which houses the headlights etc. They just slide out. You can either remove the whole front end (PITA)....OR you can take the whole box out in about 10 minutes leaving the front end in place. It's really your choice but trust me it's really way easier to remove the box. Like I said earlier, there's only 8 screws and 2 or 4 bolts...simple!

Storage box lid

Thanks Polman500, It has 4 bolts to the frame, 4 screws in the rear on top & 4 screws underneath to the sides. I have the winch distributer in the box so I only lifted it with a 2x4 high enough to push out the hindge pins.

Glad I could help. The way that hinge is made is not obvious just from looking unless you've had it apart before.
