Making my own back box a few questions?????????
First off let me ask if anyone has any type of sound system on there atv and if so how they got power to it?? if you went straight from the battery or if theres a better ideas? tomorrow i will be making a small wooden box on the back of my fourwheeler just big enough for a cooler and 2 1 gallon gas cans then im going to make it so i have the option to put a stereo tube in the back that i can plug my zune into all i'll get done tomorrow is the box itself but i have my own idea for the Audio pipe i'll keep you posted with pics if anyone has any ideas or suggestions i'll be willing to listen and don't worry about sounding dumb im not the brightest bulb by any means

I like the idea. Personally I would go straight off the battery and use a relay so you only get power with the ignition on. Maybe wire the relay to one of the factory wires like the winch control uses? Fuse the power as well. Battery Tender makes these permanent battery hookups with an inline fuse that are made for their chargers but might work well. I've seen them for $8 at a dealer. Not sure if vibration would be an issue, but maybe keep that in mind?

Most tubes are wired with a cig. Lighter power plug and you run it to your auxiliary plug on your quad.. you can get the plug from radio shack

thanks 700 ryder i was thinking about pullin my main power line via ciggerete lighter under my seat then just let it hang when not in use

I've seen quite a few atv's down here use small deep cycle batteries to power their sound systems. From mild systems to hearum before you seeum!!!

how do they keep the battery charged? do they just charge them at home then ride or do they have a way to charge it from the alt.?

Talked with a couple people on the trail this afternoon & they charge them @ home. One of them was camping all weekend & said he had no problems with the battery lasting. His setup was basic 50 watt car/cd radio & 2 6X9 speakers. I would think as long as no amps were used there shouldn't be a problem with deep cycle battery lasting that long!!

yeah alot of people forget to remember that the cd deck has a small amp built right into them for the speakers thanks SMP63 i'll look into how much a small deep cell battery costs

built the box and finally got it painted and whatnot but didnt have room for my sterio so i just made it big enough for my cooler and 2 2gallon gas cans pretty pleased with how it turned out i'll post pics 2marrow
