Gas cap
I want a gas cap that will tell me how much fuel is in my tank. I know they make a float style gas cap, however I don't know how to measure what size cap I have on my '01 Sportsman 500 HO and where to pickup said cap. I only know they make them because my previous atv had one on it. I'd love to have the style that my wife's '08 Sportsman 300 has where there's a separate gauge that's not connected to the cap, but mounted just above it. Gives it a more refined look than just a gauge on the cap. Either will work, just need some help on determining what size cap I need and where to get one.

Hey I was just thinking I wanted to get one of these. Just went out for a long ride and the fuel gauge still showed full when I got back hours later. Where's a good place to get one? I still have to check the service manual, but if the I have to take out the tank to replace the fuel sensor, then the gas cap route is the way I'll go.

well I have an 02 Scrambler, but the 09 scrambler came with the gauge in the cap. I ordered one for the 09. According the parts diagrams, both have the same tank. I am willing to bet Polaris has made one since yours that is a direct replacement.

The only difference is the depth on the tanks. The actual cap is same from my wifes to my sportsman as a matter of fact, i keep her old cap in my bag as a spare should one of ours get lost.
I bought one from a guy on eBay for my wife's Trail Boss last year. It works perfectly. Try a search on eBay. I'm sure they are still available.
