Check out my transformation
I love seeing how all these awesome rides started and came along to the masterpieces we all love. Anyone care to add theirs?
I have had a couple people ask me about this so I figured I'd share with everybody. I got a good deal on this 2006 500 so I picked it up. I thought I would leave it stock, but I got pissed when I heard 1 to many people call the camo purple. I'm not riding a gay ass purple camo ride, so I decided to paint it after a boatload of research on how to do it right. I spent about 8-10 hrs on prep work sanding, cleaning, sanding, using plastic paint prep liquid, sanding some more, and washing. Then about 4 coats of Krylon Fusion paint and let it cure for 10 days. Rubbing compound to smooth out the paint and then put new special edition graphics and waxed it. Total time spent on it was about 22 hrs, but I feel like it was worth it. Then it was on. I was hooked on making this thing a sweet ride, and it's still a work in progress, but I added the wes cargo box with the passenger seat and used the polaris lock n ride mounts for it. Then decided to go with some SS312 rims, and I just can't bring myself to buy new tires yet with the stock ones still practically new, so I just kept the stockers on the new rims. Finally I added the RDC 2" kit all the way around and that's as far as I've gotten. I'm proud of it considering I didn't know what I was doing. If anyone has questions about doing any of this stuff let me know. I get a lot about the paint, and I spent a lot of time on it, so I'll be glad to help anyone who needs it.

Nice work, it looks almost identical to the 2006-500 EFI Flame Red Limited Edition that I used to have.

Once I'm at a computer with the internet NOT at work I'll add my before and after photos as well. Great thread.
