Ricochet A-Arm Gaurds - Install

Installed my new Ricochet front arm guards last night: First let me say I was impressed with everything right out of the box except the very primitive instructions for installing. I'm the kind of guy that actually likes to read the directions on how to put something together. Only problem I had once figuring out how to mount them was I striped the smaller bolt head on both sides. I'ts the bolt that threads into the same whole the original plastic gaurd was mounted to. The bolts have the Torque heads on them. I thougth after stipping the first one I would be more gentle on the second one but I barely got it tight (lock washer compressed) and stripped the second one also. Only using a very small 1/4in socket wrench. Anyone else have this issue? Luckily I don't think the rear ones have those smaller bolts and the rest of the install will go smoother.

Ricochet arm guards

I wrote a note to Thor saying the lower or outter rear bolts need to be at least 1/4 longer. The arms were clean and the bolts were just too short. He wrote back and said he would mention it to Ricochet.

I haven't started the rear yet. I spent last night getting the stripped bolts out of the front. I wanted to do it now instead of some time in the future when they are rusted and harder to get out. I was successful and realized that I stripped them out because they weren't torx bolts but hex. I assumed that since the bigger ones were torx that the smaller ones were too. Had I been working in the day light I would have probably not made that mistake.

buy some self tapping screws oversized slightly they are usually aluminum or soft steel sometimes have that soft rubber washer on them to prevent water leaks for use when using them to hold a tin/corrugated roof to steel tube/pipe.

You don't tend to tighten screws so tight if you put a drop of blue loctite on them before you tighten them. Plus you don't have to worry about them vibrating out.
