Universal fog lights?

Service manual says my '09 XP 550 has an electrical output of 490W at 1350 RPM. All lights "on" use 177W max, not sure what the other systems use altogether.

I put universal fog lights on my truck, 2 X 35W, with their own fuse and switch, connected directly to battery.

Does anyone foresee issues with putting this system on the XP?

I want to do this for reverse lighting for plowing. I want to go this route to avoid messing with factory wiring, frying ECU, ease of install, and it only costs $25 or so.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

Ryan

That will work fine. It would be even better to use LED lights because they draw much less amperage. Polaris offers 35Watt lights so I'm sure the system can handle it.

The result: there are two mounted next to each other on the rear brush guard. Wired straight to the battery with a switch in the center console(If you will). You can see the switch, the red dot. MOD is super helpful when going 20 MPH in reverse for plowing. $25.

The relay you see is for the factory lights not for after market ones. You need to add a relay and wiring yourself for extra lights. That would be nice if Polaris got it all prewired for a set of lights though.

because 1 halogen 50W fog light will give out more light than 5 x 10W
unless of course you want directional light, like on the sides bellow and so on...
Another note id say, is i meant 10 x 50W lights... if you run 10 x 5 W leds, it wont be overkill, but with 10 x 50W you will need to bring along a portable generator...... hope i helped.

Yeah but what if I have a yellow top optima under my seat? I can run all those lights.
