Wife's hands too small for throttle control
We have a 2004 500 sportsman and my wife's hands are about the size of a 5 year olds. She cannot get her thumb to properly control the throttle. We do have a thumb control extender, and have twisted the throttle up and it really does not help. I am debating putting some heat to the thumb control and bending it under. From what I can tell you can only move the control in 90 degree increments so I am either looking at fixing this myself( heat) or maybe there is a third party idea you guys might suggest.

If your wife can have a good grip on the handle bars, maybe you can convert your thumb throttle into a twist throttle, just like motorcycle throttles.
You might want to read this first...
Twist throttle vs. thumb throttle?

if she's that small, probably shouldn't be riding an atv

I am in no way calling my wife fat, but trust me, she is big enough to handle a quad.
Twist throttle is a no I think. Like other posters said your need to muscle the quad a bit more than a bike and we are slow going on our farm, navigating around lots of obstacles.
I saw some metal thumb controls, maybe one is more adjustable than stock. But please keep the ideas coming. This is curtailing my ability to add toys to the quad.

Mmm...I'm not too sure other then what you mentioned.
I just want to warn you that if you try to bend the throttle lever, and break it, you'll have to buy an entire throttle assemble and they run about $100. Just the lever isnt sold seperately. Unless you can find someone parting out a machine and would be willing to sell just the lever. So be careful, and don't break it.

I installed a throttle extender for my 550. You can find them on Ebay. You just need to be careful when you are giving it gas during a full righthand turn.
