Custom Brush Guard
Ok so my buddy who is in an apprenticeship as a pipe fitter is getting a tubing bender for christmas. The other day while working on my 97 xplorer 500 we decided that the front end doesnt have much protection and needs a brush guard. So we are going to make a custom one. Feel free to post up some pics of your brush guards to help me with ideas. Don't be shy I know everybody likes to show off their rides.

Here is my home brewed grill guard. I order the winch mount off eBay and went to town fabing my grill guard using 1" square tube and "L" channel. A little boxy but it works!

Boxy doesn't matter, it want like aerodynamics matters on these. The fact you made it is cool.

not bad!
but you could always do something like a guru bumper (ok ok, uglyer, and boxyer... )
its simple enough to do but takes some time...if i was making a bumper like that (res2cue) the only thing i would change it the headlight "box" to make it more like a V but without the sharp edge... \_/ (kinda like that)
and skip the lower support ( on the headlight)

Here's my new bumper I just made the other day I'm waiting on my winch plate to get here so I can finish it.

Im wondering res2cue do you lose any clearance with the angled braces on the brush guard?

Hey Burghfan,
I have not run into any problems with this set up. If look at this picture you can see there is plenty of clearance. I just added those supports to help strengthen the winch mount and tie the ends into the support plate.
But I'm thinking this winter to make up another brush guard using some tubing and kind of go with a style like ATVKing did.

Thanks res2cue, I'm thinking of doing something like what atv king did but maybe incorporate a new rack with it. I was also thinking of some round or oval headlights to replace my old yellow square ones.

I'm going to put these on in a few weeks to replace the stock headlights.
