Here's a picture of my 2011 Sportsman 800 with my Kolpin boot and bracket.

There are more than a few different models/styles of brackets out there so I'm not sure if this is the one you have or not.

This bracket must have been made for the pre 2010 Sportsmans because not all the holes in the bracket lined up with factory holes on the rear rack so I did have to drill new holes in the rack. What you can't see in the pics is that there is an included plate that sandwiches the rack and bolts through the bracket base. You can probably get away with less bolts than used, but I wasn't worried about it.

I did remove the rack for the install. I exchanged the included zinc plated hardware with stainless, as I do with all my atv accessories so I'm not dealing with rust. With this particular model, you can adjust the angle of the boot, which is nice. That way I can lean it up so its out of the way if I have someone riding on back (like in the picture) or you can lean it all the way forward, or all the way down to maximize cargo room on the rack if I have a deer loaded on. Normally there is a hex bolt, washer and nut that holds the preferred angle of the boot in place that needs to be tightened and loosened with hand tools. I went ahead and replaced that set up with a threaded knob so I can make the adjustment in the field without tools.

You may also notice that there is an eye bolt installed on the bracket base. Disregard that eyebolt, that isn't part of the set up. That's just my personal preferred method of attaching stuff to the rack. Anyhow, I hope this helps. Let me know if you would like anymore info or have questions on my set up-----Chris
