Windshields

Starting on a back up plan for my normal snowmobile trip. Not seeing much snow up north and might have to take the atv. Has anyone used this PowerMadd windshield. It would be going on a 1998 Sportsman 500.

not sure about that brand but look at the VIP air they are AMAZING... they look good, plus are durable. you can also mount rear view mirrors on them aswell.

they might be pricey (have not shopped around) but the color matches really well. plus so far they never interfered with any accesories.

160.jpg picture by shui5612 - Photobucket i also have one on my 850 but i took it off (just to be sure) when going up that ramp.

hope i helped.

P.S. compared to my friends lock&ride windshield, the ones i have look amazing. and are more durable.

Looks good. I am not really looking for any thing that nice. It is going on a 1998 Quad that is not all that pretty.

finally the link worked (kept taking me back to their main home page for some reason)

i guess its not that bad of a windshield for that price...
if its anything like the polaris ones, they are fine 80% of the time... ( they seem to bend going 100KM/h while mine doesnt)

another thing is, not sure about from what my windshield is made out of, but i use the same trails as my friends (get hit by the same branches/bushes) and mine doesnt look scratched compared to theirs...

what are you going to use the windshield for? trails, frozen lake speed racing... etc...?
i use my windshield ALL YEAR LONG ( sure like it that the mud from the riders infront doesnt go on me, and im not hot while riding it...
but i do take it off when going up extremely sharp hills (only one place where it needs to be off)

for the price, id get the windshield even if its bad ( you can always re-enforce it abit...)
im sure its good for the winter ( mine are pretty tall, the top line is exactly in the line of sight of my eyes( 6ft 1-ish)) so when im riding with the helmet im always warm with no wind hitting me.
i either straighten up my back abit (to be 1" above the windshield) or sit further/closer away and look THROUGH the windshield...
they are actually so effective i can open up my visor 2-3 notches (bit higher than eye level) and get no wind in my helmet.

like i said... the shield is probably OK for most applications.
but the price makes it a good buy.

It looks like the one I have on my '02. I put it on in the winter and it works great. Plowing snow, playing around. It keeps the wind and debris down and makes the ride a little nicer. My only gripe is when it gets dirty or snow covered your vision goes down. I find myself standing up more often to see better. But all in all I like it.

Morning and Happy New Year, I have a Polaris Lock n Ride on my bike and have found it to be very useful in the winter. I don't ride very fast and like the fact if needed I can take it off quickly.

The one you're looking at looks like you might be able to remove just the windshield and not bother the mount.

I'd say it will do a good job for you. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your winter ride.
