DYI Pelican Case LocknRide????
Has anyone here ever drilled an appropriate sized hole or holes in a Pelican Case and used a Lock n Ride plunger deal to mount it to racks? I'm wanting a smaller sized waterproof case to throw my camera, keys and other misc crap into.

just googled what pelican cases are... they look great! (if its what i found
Protective Travel Cases | Waterproof Cases | Pelican Case & Light )
the only worry would be... i think the lock and ride itself will UN-waterproof the case...
it might be somewhat waterproof but will get full if submerged...
why not get a rack extender (front or back) and just use bungee straps?
last thing i would do is pay top $$$ for a good waterproof case and make it not waterproof...
hope i helped... i could give more tips but i dont know what you are looking for.

I modified a Tamrack hard atv case to use the lock and ride mounts for my wifes 400 HO, works great.

I have Pelican cases, but they are kind of expensive to be poking holes in. Unless you have an old one you don't care about. For the same price range you can probably just get an ATV case.
Video crews live by those cases. They are tough and have a pressure relief valve because they are airtight. So i dont know how well that would work if you drilled holes in the case bottom. The cases are a bit on the heavy side, but on the back of your ATV, you probably won't notice.
If price is no object, those Pelican cases can be made/configured to order. I got my cases from CasesBySource, but there are many other places you can get them. I got the Pelican, not for the back of an ATV, but to keep my computers and electronics stuff dry and safe. They may be overkill if you are just throwing outdoor gear in there to keep dry, but they'll work.

I do a lot of whitewater rafting and over the years I have accumulated a rather large selection of pelican cases, suitcase size down to something that will hold a pack of playing cards. I have really come accustomed to using them. I even use one for my carry on bag when I travel, link. They are spendy, but I have never paid retail prices for these cases. I have been looking at the Polaris (XP) front and rear locknride cases, but I have issues with both of them. The front locknride seems too high, looks funny to me. It kind of looks like it will interfere with the pod light when illuminated. The rear box just seems enormous, looks like a big turd hanging on the back. I do have rack extenders and currently use a 1" cam strap to hold my belongings to the 4wheeler. I would like to have a smaller box that is secure to the rack that just requires flipping 2 latches to open, something quick to grab a camera or my .357. I may have to experiment when I have time, but with a 4 month old kid in the house, my time is limited! When I get around to it, I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for the replies.

Pelican cases are awesome. They are expensive though. Whenever I drilled holes through them to mount them I used washers and siliconed them with no issues.

One of my friends adapted a Koplin box because he thought the Polaris box was too big.
Seems to work well the times I've ridden with him.
