Well, I received my 850 from the dealer yesterday with new plastics, a new seat, and an ECM flash (back firing issue) all covered under warranty. I ran it only a short time last night and the plastics are still hotter than I would have expected for such a short ride. I ordered the heat shield (5254344) from the dealer this morning...back ordered until mid month. Also thinking about ceramic coating the exhaust. I started another thread under performance inquiring about the pros and cons from those who have had their exhausts coated if you want to subscribe.

I'd say that's a MAJOR SAFETY and deffinately a warranty CONCERN..... I'd contact the dealer about this ASAP, and stop using the machine (if at all possible) until resolved..... Looks like a safety recall brewing to me!!!

My old 550 had this. I dont know why Polaris stopped using it. Polaris has been melting platic since the mid 90s lol. You would think they would have figured it out by now.

Wonder why they are hit and miss on the heat shield. I usually do not see them on there anymore but every now and then they pop up with heat shields. I think there are a lot more out there without the shield than with.
