Lock and ride front cover Polaris 2877951

Can someone explain to me this part? I think the newer bikes have them. Mine is an 09 550xp and the rack cover has a bunch of holes in it and there is really almost no room inside.

Does this cover give you reasonable room and dust and water protection. Is it worth $169 upgrade?

The XP's do not come with a storage box, just the rack. The box fits the recessed areas under the rack and replaces the rack completely. It is a necessity if you don't have a rear box IMO. They are almost completely water proof and seal up well.

Thank you. So there is a bottom that comes with it too? Or is that a separate part? The diagrams are not very descriptive. Do the fuses and relays fit in the box?

Right now I have a rear basket that I throw a Rubbermade tub and a spare fuel tank in.

You just take off the front rack and the new complete box locks right in. Covers up all the relays and battery and stuff, but is fitted to the pockets around the sides of the area. Takes less than 1 min to swap them out. There are many who have fit a pair of 1gal Rotopax in the front storage box for the XP.

When we bought pops 550 in '09 we assumed he would have the front box like my sportsman does... NOT so. He has like yours. Later my buddie bought a 850 WITH this addition of a front box so pop is now also wanting it. Our dealer was I informative on avalibility at the time.

Its quite nice. I don't think its as good as mine but then again i like the 04 front box better than my '07 too. But all are VERY USEFUL and mostly waterproof!

CW!

Worth every penny. I got mine for about $140. Got one on both my XPs. I keep mine full with the essentials that I must have on every ride:

Rain gear, snatch block, tow strap, sun hat, extra night goggles (clear lens), shovel, air compressor and tire repair kit, cold weather gloves and hat, etc.
