Help me decide... Bear Claw HTR vs. Roctane XD's

Help me decide folks...

I'm looking to purchase either a set of 26" Bear Claw HTR -or- 26" Roctane XD's (Sizes F: 26-9R-12 & R: 26-11R-12) mounted on a set of the ITP Machined SS212. Both sets of tires are 8 ply radial rated, and have a ~.8" tread depth. Both sets are also comparably priced with in $10-20 of each other. So the choice is harder.

STI Roctane XD's

Kenda Bear Claw HTR's

ITP Machined SS212's

What are peoples experiences with both of these tires and the rims also??

And, what's your vote?

I only know about bearclaws and then the non-htr (non-radial). But I'll say this the htr can only be better. My bearclaws have lasted 50% longer than the pos 489s my other quad has and they drive over the same exact terrain.

The bearclaws clean themselves of mud (I never bother or need to flush em out), grip very well on all types of surfaces (dirt, grass, mud, sand, rock) and are very tough even through repeated cactus runs. i plan to get a set to replace those pos 489s, don't know why polaris stuffs those on, cheap i guess.

I'm gonna follow this one. Curious how the both tires ride and handles. Also curious how durable the ss212 are.

What type of terrain will they be used in? The HTRs will definitely be better in the mud due to the directional tread pattern.

Bi66badjohn ran Roctanes on his 570 for a couple of months. He hated them. They ride rock hard, even at extremely low air pressures, and their snow performance wasn't good at all. Several occasions he couldn't break the trail, and couldn't even follow me after I would break the trail. I was running my HTR's at that time. (been on since it was brand new) He sold the Roctanes, put on a set of Pitbull Growler BG2.5's and rode those for a few months before selling them as well, and put on Bighorns. A month later he sold his atv.... We rode together many times, so it was easy to compare the two side by side. On an atv, the HTR is a much better all purpose tire.

Thanks for the input everyone....... thinking I'll pull the pin on the HTR's & SS212's tomorrow.

I half ways figured I'd have a few more replies..... the site must have took a hit with the password update. As it took me a couple weeks and email attempts to get back on board.

Things have seemed to just slowed down on this site. Maybe lost a few due to the password update, but things were plenty lively up until about a month or so ago, so don't think that has anything to do with it. I've seen a few other forums slowing down lately as well. I imagine it's just going through one of those cycles, and things will pick back up again. Time will tell.

I have quadboss 672's on 27's. I think they do great on trails to medium mud. Hands down better than my old ITP 589's. Plus they are a 8ply radial tire with 1 1/4" tread. They ride very smooth.

Well.... I placed my order for the Kenda Bear Claw HTR Tires, ITP SS212 Machined Wheels, and ITP Chrome Lug Nuts (all with free valve stems and mounting). Hope to see them in about a week as they needed to ship the rims from one warehouse to another where they do the mounting.

We'll let you know what I think once I've received them!!

Looking forward to seeing some pictures and hearing what you think. I really think they are the best tire out there at this time.
