Need tire help

Hey guys any of yall with the experience with SLs what would ya think of the tires for rocky/dirt/mud/snow riding in eastern pa all we have to ride is coal hills and mountains that seem to be cover in rock. my stockers are holding up well no plugs yet but i kinda killed the tread on the rears with a nice "little" slick wet pavement on day still about 1/2 tread left on them but would like to upgrade to something a little more aggresive and tougher against the rocks i am terrified that im gonna put a rock through these terrathons. all ready decided i want the get the STI HD1 rims cheap and they dont look to bad. open to any suggestions on which type of tire would perform well in the type of riding i do.

Morning man,
I likely should know...but what are SL's?

I recomend Maxxis Big Hornes OR GBC Grim Reaper tires!

I ride out in pa on the coal hills and rocky trails. I have the pitbull rockers and they are tuff as hell. I did get one hole because of a piece of steel that went in the tire between two treads. It only caused a slow leak so I just filled it up the trail and fixed it when I got home. The pittbull growlers would be good also. They are more of a mud/sand/snow tire. The rocker are an all terrain tire.

Got a riding buddy who swears by them. He rides Honda so I don't trust him much though Seriously, they are a good tire. I know many people love them, and I can't say my friend has had any flats or difficulty getting through anything and that's with only 3 wheel drive.

New England trails aren't much different than pa from what you describe. That being said, I wanted an 8 ply radial for my machine. I have been very impressed by the Spartacus so far. I am sure reapers and rockers are just as good too, but the pitbulls are pricey! Also, almost everyone else in our group ride big horns and love them too. Oh so many choices, good luck!

Pitbull Rockers. The 25.5x8 and x10x14's are really fairly light for such a sturdy tire. The front unmounted weighs 25.4lbs and the rear 30.4lbs. and they are just a fraction of an inch being identical in size to the stock tires. The tread depth is 1 1/8th", 8ply, and they get outstanding traction. A really great all around trail tire.
