Zillas and Snow?
Im thinkin of getting Zillas for my 850 Xp. Im wondering if anyone knows how they run in snow and actual tire size vs advertised size? I know alot of people run them and I really like the weight advantage they have vs the typical radials out there of same advertised size!

We have a guy that rides with us that ran Zillia's when he had his XP. He liked the Zillia's and they seemed to go fine in the snow. He certainly kept up with everybody else. Although, he commented that the Zilla's will "dig" a hole if you are hard on the throttle. They also run small. He got the 27", and they were just barely larger than the stock 26" tires. Probably one the reasons they are light in weight.

No problem man. Maybe someone else will stop by with more info.
I see where you are coming from... those Rip Saw's are probably a pretty heavy tire. Another decent snow tire to consider would me the Bighorn 2.0. They are lighter than the original Bighorns, and will be considerably lighter than the Rip Saws, and run pretty much true to size. They won't have near the the tread depth that your Rip Saw's have, but you don't want than anyhow for snow riding. You need a tire that will "float" on top of the snow like a snowshoe. Something with less of an aggressive tread design and a flat footprint.
Good luck.

So are you looking for new tires to completely replace the Rip Saws... year round, or are you going to keep them, and run something different in snow?

Well then, I'm not sure exactly what type of tire you are looking for (other than lighter), but there are a number of tires that will weigh considerably less than the Rip Saws that are great "all around" tires.
What type are you looking for? What type of terrain do you ride in most of the time.

Ive been lookin at the usual, big horns, sparticus, reapers and zillas. I also like the dirt commanders even though there not radials. I really like the xtr's i have on my 01 500 ho but they ony make in 27's and the weight scares me. My stocks weigh 22 and 28 mounted on same wheels. I realize Im gonna gain but some I believe are to heavey. I ride mostly hard packed trails. I get in mud once in awhile, try to avoid alot of it. Typical pennsylvania trails and snow. Just alittle of everything but sand!

OK then... yea, Big Horns, Spartacus, Grim Reapers are all good. However, last week I had to change to ride my buddies quad with his new skins. Today, he had the quad over my place and we changed out all the fluids. While we had it up on the lift, we pulled his rims and tires and threw them on my quad just so I could compare them to my Big Horns. I was quite impressed, and liked them even better than my Big Horns. Very smooth ride. Handled and steered great, and went through my creek, up a steep side hill and over a bunch of rocks and downed timber on my property.
They are a new relativity new tire from Kenda called the Bear Claw HTR or Bear Claw II. They are 8 ply rated radials. I looked up the specs, and they are actually a tad lighter than my Big Horns, which are probably lighter than the Spartacus and Grim Reapers.
Here's a link...
Kenda - Bearclaw HTR
So, there's another one to throw in the mix.
