how big of tire can fit on 2004 sportsman 700

I am in need of new tires. Bad. chunks gone and everything. I ride mud, snow, sand, gravel, and lots of rock. Any suggestions for me and more importantly what size can i upgrade to. I am up for getting new rims as well. Need some help.
Stock tire size Front 205/80 R12 Rear 270/60 R12

I have a 2003 700, with a 2" lift I just put 28" zilla's on. They come close to rubbing when turning but clear. They did good in the mud and trails, but I wasnt impressed in the rocks. Maybe I was having an off day but the stock tires seemed to do better in the rocks to me. I'll try again this weekend and see what happens.
