26" zillas on 2010 sportsman 500

I'd like to know if I will have any clearance issues with having this tire and size on my stock machine and using my stock rims. I won't be doing any lifts or adding spacers. The 26" zillas will be a 9" on front. I am wondering if the 9" front would be an issue with no spacer.

Welcome!

The only issue that you might run upon is the tire rubbing the tierod end. As your stock tires are 8" wide and you want a 9" tire, take a close look between the stock tire and tierod end. This will give you an idea if the 9" tire will clear without spacers.

One solution is to put longer studs in your hubs and use 3/16" or 1/4" spacers. Unlike the larger spacers, this should give you the clearance you'll need. And be cheaper.

One other thing, the zillas will run short, so think about the height if you want to stay close to stock.

Thanks for the reply.....

If they run short than that would mean i would have to go up to a 27" tire then? or if i stayed with the 25" they would be shorter than stock? Does anyonw make a tire true to what they claim it to be?!

There are several tires that will run true to size. However, you need to know how you are going to use your bike to choose the right tire for your application.

I'd go with the 26" as it will probably be closer to your stock tires. These will be great for trail and some mud mixxed in.

If you run into a problem with clearance, check with Paul at Rubberdown Customs, as he offers 3/16" and 1/4" spacers that will probably be enough for what you need. (He is located in Niagra Falls on the Canadian side)

I have a set of 10" wide tires that I use in winter and I am going to get a set of the 1/4" for my bike as I already have the long studs.

These spacers you speak of.....they are just normal flat washers?
