Pitbull Growlers -vs- Rockers
Looking for some information to compare these two tires. Most of my riding is in rocky terrain, but for 5 months of the year I'm riding in a lot of snow as well. Very little mud to speak of so that is not a concern to me.
I have ridden in snow with a guy that was running Rockers, and I rode circles around him with my Bighorns. The Rockers seemed to want to just dig in. I'm wondering if the Growlers would perform better in the snow but still be comparable in the rocky terrain. I've always run Bighorns but thinking about going to a taller tire and Bighorns don't come any taller than 26" in the 14" size.
Also looking for information about the ride quality between the 6 ply and the 8 ply. Never had any issues running 6 ply but wouldn't be opposed to 8 if I don't have to give up the good ride to get there.
If I decide to pull the trigger and spend that kind of money I want to be sure that I'm buying a tire that will work at least as well, and hopefully better than my BH's. I'm not interested in all the other tires out there, just trying to get some info on the Pitbulls.
Thanks

I don't know about snow but I rode with a RZR running Growlers a couple weeks ago and he ate up the rocks, mud and soft terrain hill climbs we covered. After seeing how well they worked I'm seriously considering a set for my 800 efi.

Discount Tire Direct. It took 2 weeks to get them. Discount didn't have them in stock so they had to wait until they got them in from Pitbull. Three days from the time Discount got them until they reached my door.

Bob,
I am sorry to see you jump ship so to speak, But I think you have made an edjucated and good choice for what you need. PitBull is doing good things with there tires.
I have liked the looks and what I have read about Growler tires. I read a story on them when they first came out. They tested them on a Yamaha Grizz. The rider really liked them!
NICE looking rugged tires!

It was a tough choice since I'm such a fan of Bighorns but decided to try them and see if they are all they are said to be. I'm not selling the BH's until I am sure these are really a better tire. Hope to get out this weekend and run them in some deep snow and see how they compare.
I went back and forth between Rockers and Growlers for about 2 weeks before making my choice. To be honest, ultimately it came down to the Rockers being about $20 per tire cheaper. For the riding I do the Rocker is supposed to be best, so hope I made the right choice.
Thanks for the compliments guys. They do look good, and to see them in person they look even better. Time will tell, but they look like nothing will stop them. Nothing stopped the Bighorns either, and I only had 1060 miles on them, so maybe not a wise purchase?......... Hey, it's Christmas and it's only money. hahaha
