I ran them on my 2011 550 without any problems. I put on my lift because I wanted more ground clearance.

I have seen 30's run on the 550/850 with no lift. So yes, 28's will fit with no lift. But it does look so much better with the lift.

The lift kit will raise your center of gravity a little but you probably won't even notice. You can counter that with the offset wheels and/or wheel spacers which will widen your stance and make you feel more comfortable if you plan on making quick, highspeed turns.

As you can see, you dont need a lift to run the 28's. I only did the lift because I wanted more clearance. I also did aftermarket wheels to get a wider and more stable stance.

You dont want more offset in your ATV. Will make more kick in sides. Thats one of the best attractive of the 850XP.
