wheel spacers anything else needed

I installed a snorkel kit today on my 500 sportsman ho. I noticed when I took it apart that the 27" tires I put on are rubbing the front steering arm. I figure I can put spacers on but wanted to make certain I won't need to do anything else such as I was told I would need new axles if I lift it. Will I have to do anything like this if I'm just adding wheel spacers? Do I need to put them in the back or is it okay to just stick them in the front? Thanks
