02' Sportsman 400 wheel questions
Hello,
I am new to the forum and joined because I had a few questions I figured somebody on here could help me with. I recently purchased an 02 sportsman 400 with 70hrs on it and want to make it look a little bit better. I am looking at wheels but I am kind of lost about what to even consider. First I would like to go with the same size wheel all the way around which of course means I will need to swap tires in the rear as well, but are there two different bolt patterns for the front and back? Most of the wheels I find are listed only for the front or only for the rear, is this simply because the company goes by stock wheel size or does it have to do with the bolt pattern. Also will I run into any issues with the hubs fitting through any wheels in particular? I would like to run something like this...
STI HD1 Alloy Wheel | ATV | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC
Thanks for any help from anybody who can point me in the right direction. These wheels in particular are noted to only fit the front of the machine.

I have found some wheels I like, but they are a 12 inch wheel..... will this be to large for a 400? I will plan on running a lower profile tire and want to avoid a lift or raising the height of the machine too much.

12" wide is what's on the front and probably 10" on the back but you can run 12" front and back. The only thing is you need different bolt patterns for the front and rear 4/156 for the front and 4/4 for the rear so I think wheel selection is pretty limited.

Thanks for the reply... I did happen to find an adapter shop that makes custom adapters, and then I would have to run a 1 inch spacer on the front to even out the wheels, which I wouldn't mind having a wider stance. Only thing is they are a bit pricy for a 4/4 to 4/156 conversion at $60.00 a piece and can be found here ( 4 Lug ATV to 4 Lug ATV : ATV Wheel Adapters : 4 Lug Wheel Adapters : AdapterKing). I am thinking I can have my brother make some spacers for the front on the CNC at school. Now at least I know what I am getting into when I go to do this. Also just out of curiosity does there happen to be a hub that would fit and has a 4/156 pattern for the back? Could front hubs be placed on the rear? I am not really sure what goes into swapping a hub on these things so this question is just more for my knowledge than anything. Thanks again.

You don't have to use adapters if you don't want to I found this picture of a scrambler with 12" itp108 and it looks pretty good.

That does look good, I am just having trouble finding wheels I want that are available in both 4/156 and 4/4 bolt pattern. I'm thinking I may just give ITP a call some time and ask what models they offer with these bolt patterns, as some sites don't seem to list the bolt patterns just whether or not it fits a certain model.
