Tires dry rotted leaking - innner tube ?

Two of my stock tires dry rotted on my 2004 Sportsman 500. The air stays in long enough for my riding needs but the next day they are in need of more air. Was wondering if I can find a mechanic to put an inner tube would the tube do what its supposed to do or will it pop up where the rot is.

You need to just replace the tires if they are that bad. Not worth the effort or the risk to try and put a band-aid on junk tires.

That's kind of what I was thinking but I was hopeful. Any issues with ride/handling if if I have two new. One in front and one in back?

As long as they are the same size, and measure the same height, you should be ok. I would search around, ie; craigslist, ebay and try to find a matched set. There are always some good cheap deals to be found. Most people all but give away OEM tires when they upgrade.

Been poking around Craigslist as suggested. My sizes are front 205 80 12 and back are 270 60 12. I know the 12 is rim size. Should I be looking for 25/8/12 and 27/6/12? Not sure if I have to get the exact size to replace them.

I also have an issue here. I just had my tires removed from the stock wheels and they both had inner tubes. I was going to replace the tires due to dry rotting sidewalls and 1 had a slow leak. I'm assuming the wheels would leak without inner tubes so is it okay to use tubes again or is it a good indicator that I should replace the wheels? They have a fair amount of rust but not widespread deep pitting...Thanks.
