tire upgrade for 500 HO

Thank you in advance for help. I just bought A 2010 sportsman 500 HO and need help. Im looking for an aggressive tire for mud,my stock wheels are 25-8-12 and 25-11-12. Is there any tires that will fit my stock rims or do I need a rim upgrade also?

depends what size you want if you are gonna stay the same size then no if you go one size taller no problem its the width in the front that really matters you cant go wider then 9 inches wide in the front with a stock rim if you want a wider tire you will need after market rims or spacers. the wider tires will rub the tie rod in the front. and welcome to the forum.

try not to go bigger than 27" on there. i was talking to a mechanic once and he was telling me how when you are in reverse and hit the speedo override button as soon as the rear tires spin it engages the front tires but the 27" and larger tires put more torque on the machine and it will bust the u joints.

XTR is the way to go for the conditions you plan to ride. Excellent tires.

I have 26" XTRs on my 06 500. They will go anywhere and ride fairly smooth for its aggressiveness. They do put right much feedback in the handlebars on hardpack over 20mph. Steering does feel a little wierd at times, especially if your running under 5lbs of air. The only major downfall of these tires is that they are heavy as crap and will kill some of your power. I plan on putting a clutch kit on mine to compensate some of the lose of power. They look sweet on a Sportsman.
