i just went through the same thing, i went with the ITP XTRs 27. i went through all of the posts on tires, asked a few questions and narrowed it down to the XTRs. got them for $449. second on the list where the BHs. i wanted a more aggressive tire and went with the XTRs. did a little riding last weekend and was totally pleased. i put them on the stock wheels and for the most part the tires stayed withing the fenders, so i didn't get really muddy.
great traction and rode smooth on hard pack. i also picked these because i wanted to stay with a radial tire.

good luck,

Ken

I am currently running ITP TerraCross R/T tires with ITP wheels. Very nice all around tire & but very pricey. However I am going back to Bighorns. I have had them on 2 previous ATVs. I l just love how smooth they are.

I just ordered the xtr's after doing research on tires for 3 months. I was going to go with the BH cause of the durability as everyone was saying but i decided i wanted 27" tires and that size isnt available in the BH's or I'm sure i would have gotten them. I rode Cableguys machine with the xtr's and liked them, that was the push i needed to purchase them.

I also looked into the grim reapers and the pitbulls, but i didnt think they would wear to well, especially the pitbulls.
I hope i made the right choice, time will tell

A friend of mine has the terracross on a can am and those tires work great in the snow.

Slyder not sure if you know but BH's run one size larger. A 26 is really 27 in size. On my SP800 I went with the 25 which was perfect for the quad.

just a heads up

the 27s i put on mine rub on a rib that stick down from the front fender towards the tire. its directly above the tire. it only rubs when the suspension was at full compression. running hard i may have hit it three or four times in a few hours of riding.
look at yours and you will see what i mean. don't know what its there for but i am going to trim about a half of a inch or so off of mine. with the 28s you may have to trim more. i might even take it out completely.
