Tire and Wheel Question for 2009 850XP

Just did a ride with a group of snow riders where they absolutely walked all over me. What they were using were Bighorn 12" wide on both front and back. Is it possible to run 12 wide on both front and back on the 2009 850XP using aftermarket wheels? If so what must be done to make it work?
TIA

different offset rims and spacers i suspect

heres some info i already assembled so far (mostly about the 2009 models that had the rear clearance issues):
I got this info from various threads from all over, if anything can be confirmed incorrect let me know!!
Plus if you know that the stock sizes for the 2010's are different from the '9s or know the sizes for the regular sportsman line (HO's, Touring's, and X2's) let me know also!!

Due to clearance issues on the '09 XP models, I've combined all important info for future reference.

Stock 2009 Sportsman XP 550/850 tire info:

front rim: 14”x6” / 5-1 offset / 4-156 lug pattern (metric threads)
front tire: 26x8x14 terrathons
ream rim: 14”x8” / 6-2 offset / 4-156 lug pattern (metric threads)
rear tire: 26x10x14 terrathons

Most aftermarket rims (not from a polaris dealer) offer more outward offset, giving you more inside clearance but they will also stick out from your fenders.
There are very limited aftermarket 26"x14" tires 8" and 10" wide. Most are 9" and 11" or 10" and 12". Generally to use aftermarket tires on Stock rims, you will need/want to install 1" wheel spacers. Another option is to bend the tie rod bar inward, away from the tire. Most dealers wont like seeing this done. There are some tires will still fit due to design. (maxxis zilla's dont have much for side lugs so they have been mounted on stock rims). Further more for taller tires, there is a clearance issue up front where there is a "blade" of plastic that hangs down parallel to the tire. It can be removed without concern.

Tire pressures are also a concern. You should check to make sure they are all set to a good pressure (6psi + or - to your liking). Having tires with big pressure differences can affect your ride!

Lugnuts should be torqued to the following specs (per polaris) Steel Rims: 35-55 ftLbs. Alloy Rims: 75-90 ftLbs.
