Want to keep the factory rims but how big of a tire

I have a 2004 700 sportsman and I want to change the factory tires because I think they sux in snow. I was looking a t 26-9-12 for the front 26-12-12 for the rear at least that what I think I can fit. Also I was thinking of the bighorns they seem to be a good all around tire. I do trail riding snow plowing and some rocks, I have mud lites on my grizzly and now, looking for a radial tire for a better ride. Let me know what u guys think for factory rims not to hit the front springs.

Sportsman 500 HO with Bighorn 26X9-12 in front and 26X12-12 rear.
Need some washers in the front for clearance(?), that's all.

Which putting washers the rims will not sit against the hub correct? How safe do u think it will be or should I just look for a tire and rim combo?

It would be safer to buy new wheels. The most popular size is 12x7 4+3.
