questions about putting Bighorns on a 2010 sportsman xp 550
I have been getting alot of flats with the stock tires that came on my 550, I was looking at getting a set of maxxis bighorns (26x9x14 for the front and 26x11x14 for the rear)
I was wondering how durable these tires are, I have been reading that these tire are very tough and I was wanting to confirm that is the case because the only reason I am replacing the stock tires is because of the number of flats I am getting.
Second I have read that these tires are heavy and that they measure a bit taller than most 26 inch tires, will there be any noticeable decrease in power if I go with these tires. And how rough are these tires to drive on
Also what kind of price should I expect I live in Canada so anything I buy on line would have to be shipped to me, and the first price I got was about $620 plus tax is this reasonable or can I do better

I am still running stocks on mine; however i did ask the dealer about them as i seen them stacked up in the corner. they look great. the distance between the treads seem like they should ride relatively smooth. I beleive they are 6 or 8 ply. . . .stocks are 2 or 3. so basically you will be doubling your protection moving to that ply of a tire. i have been beating mine on the trails and (knock on wood) havent had any troubles so far and was actually impressed with how well they did being stock. what kind of riding are you doing that your getting so many flats?

When i was lookin into tires which was just a month ago i almost got the horns. They are a great tire, a buddy of mine has them and loves em. You will have no problem with them mounting up. They are a very smooth riding tire from what i'm told.
As far as the Canada price, not sure, do plenty od research.
I ended up gettin the mudlite xtr's but i'm sure i would have been happy with the horns. To bad we cant test ride them......

Nothing too serious yet mostly hard packed dirt but for some reason almost every time I ride I get very small pin holes in the tires,

I finally got to test out the xtr's and i love em! A much smoother ride than the stock plus the traction is awesome. They're great in the mud also. I know they're no zillas or anything but what a blast i have with them!
This is a vid of me using them last weekend
I didn't install a clutch kit on my 850, but i have the 27"er's
