Help with tire size?
I have a 2009 sporstsman 500 H.O. with stock wheels and tires 25X8-12 and 25X10-12. Can I change them to 26X9-12 and 26X11-12 without any modifications? The rears look like they would be ok but the front are only 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from the tie rod ends right now and look like they would rub? The reason I ask is my local tire dealer has a set of Goodyear rawhide grips new old stock that I could buy for 1/2 of what the correct size would be. Is this a good deal or not? Thanks

you are correct in being leary about the front because it might rub. I know for a fact you need spacers or aftermarket rims if you go
10 wide on the front. 9 is gona be really really close and might rub you wont know till you put it on. you can always buy 1/2 inch spacer if need be. and the price sounds good. and welcome to the forum

Thanks for the help guys, I tried rocky mountain and its not really that specific. I was looking for someone that had maybe tried it already because once I buy them they are mine, because they are closeout tires. I really didnt want to add spacers if I didnt have to. Thanks again.

Two questions about offset (05 Sportsman 700):
1. What is the offset of OEM wheels? I've read that there is no offset...so they'd be 4+4...is this correct? UPDATE: What I read was incorrect. There is a LOT of backspacing on the OEM rims...I haven't measured yet, but I would say they're something like 6+2 on the rear and 4+2 on the front.
2. If a 12x7 wheel has a 4+3 offset would that wheel stick out more or set under the bike more then the OEM rims? UPDATE: The proof was in the pudding...they set out about an inch more on each side.
I've read that the first number is the distance from the mounting center line to the inside wheel edge and that the second number would be from the center line to the outside of the wheel edge. Which would indicate to me that a 4+3 wheel would set further in than an OEM wheel. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance.
