Opinions wanted...
I have a '07 Polaris Sportsman 700 EFI 100% stock.
Next season I will be changing out tires and doing a clutch upgrade to compensate.
What I want for tires is a slightly aggressive all terrain. 75% of my riding is hard pack. 20% is loose and hard rock the remaining 5% mud. Maxis Bighorns, Dirt Commanders and Sedona Buzz saws are my top choices. based on what I have read and like the looks of. Going to mount on plain aluminum strictly for weight savings. I ride mostly established mountain trails, sometimes game trails the woods but overall very little mud.
I was going to stay same diameter 25 inchers. But have been reading of running same width tires at all four corners. I like this look and the idea of it. So now I am thinking of going to 26x9" as most only offer 8" width in 25" diameter.
What are your thoughts and what can I expect.
Thanks guys,
CW

well first, i would personally NOT go wider on the front. yes that will give you more hook-up in 4x4 because of the larger contact patch up front, but you have to give something up, right? and that something how easy it is to steer. without power steering, it is going to be harder for you to turn wheels, do you want that? it is something to be aware of. you probably dont need wider tires up front. if you had an XP with powersteering, i would say, sure go for it.
i love the maxxis bighorns, and thats what i would run. i like where your head is at though. i would go stock size bighorns on plain alum rims, that gets the most functionality, still looks good too though, IMO.

Great info guys!!!! That's why I asked!
OK, so wider and same sized tires front and back isn't what I really want. Check.
No mud isn't really my thing really.
Bighorns are on the short list, I hear they run large, or truer to size, so 25's should suit me well. Yes on an aluminum rim.
What about offsets or back space on the rims? Is that something I need to be concerned with? Or are they all the same? Sorry if its a silly question. On my Jeeps its a big thing many overlook with aftermarket rims.
