Warning about the Pit Bull Company

I wanted to let everyone know what happened with my attempt to buy Pit Bull Rockers for my 2010 Polaris 850 EPS.

Pit Bull promotes that they make the best tire in the world, have the great customer service, are American made and therefore charge a premium price.

Sorry to say, I bought into the marketing hook line and sinker.

I planned a trip for Labor Day weekend to northern MN around purchasing a set of Rockers. I wanted something I could depend on for the difficult and remote conditions up there. Getting a flat is not a good thing in that part of the country. I ordered the tires a couple weeks in advance and they were dropped shipped from the factory in a couple days.

While I and the dealer ordered the correct 14 inch tires, unknown to us, Pit Bull had shipped 12 inch tires. I discovered this only when I went to my tire store to have them mounted yesterday at 7:30am before work....of course they would not fit.

After having the tire store have to remount all my stock tires to the wheels, then back on to the ATV I called ATV outfitters who confirmed they had ordered the correct tires and that Pit Bull had sent the wrong ones.

OK, no problem everyone makes mistakes or has a bad day.

As it was still very early in the morning, Pit Bull promised to ship out the correct tires immediatly on Wed for delivery to me Friday. I was very clear that if they could not ship for arrival before the weekend I had to know so I could cancel the trip. At that point I was still outside the 48 hour cancellation window. Pitbull assured the dealer they would ship that day to arrive Friday.

This morning the dealer received a call from Pitbull that they had NOT shipped. No reason, nothing, just they did not ship. Even more frustrating was the attitude of Pit Bull of "well, tough luck this stuff happens" When the dealer pressed for a reason, they refused to give one.

I now have a full trip booked that it is too late to cancel. Non refundable hotel reservations, others coming on the trip with non refundable ATV rentals...this is a huge cluster.

While the tires might be great, I want everyone to know how they do business.

I cannot reward this kind of attitude and business practice, it is a matter of principal. I will go with a lesser tire that I can find locally.

Had they just said up front they could not ship, no problem. Had they done what they said, no problem...I am not trying to be a hard ass. I would have not even been in the situation if they had shipped the tires I ordered to start with. I just wanted them to do what they said or communicate that they could not do it.

But this...I get the feeling the factory rep made 2 mistakes in a row and is now just trying to cover his butt from the higher ups or something.

Maybe they think people will keep buying their tires no matter how they treat them. Maybe they are right.

I am one guy that won't.

I just received an interesting call from the dealer regarding Pit Bull.

We are unsure what changed their attitude, but they have now offered to overnight the tires to me.

We will see how this all plays out.

It only takes one weiner to screw the pooch. I'd say that reps superiors don't know about the screw up.
Hope it all works out for ya.
